RE: Just a country boys solution to the AIG bailout

The whole market system is meant to reward the good investor and punish the poor investor! Poor as in one who makes poor investment choices! Circumventing this natural way of things will certainly mean disaster.

RE: F150 o7

I agree with terryallan. I had a 1998 with the 4.6L with 3.73 (changed from the 3.08s it came with!!) and pulled a 4500 - 5000# (loaded) TT. 6000#, loaded, would be the max I would want to try.

RE: Nissan dealer advertising new Versa with each new Titan?

The dealer in Daphne, AL (Chris Myers Nissan)was doing the Titan with an Altima. The Altima ended up being a 2 year lease (low mileage!). Buy and new Titan and get to use an Altima for 2 years...don't run up the mileage...and watch out for "excessive" wear when you turn it back in!!!

RE: College football - week 4

Arkansas has struggled to beat Western Ill & UL Monroe!!! I'm not sure how good (or bad) they are!
UF may destroy UT this weekend...UT lost to a team that was beaten 59-0!!!!
FSU still doesn't have a QB!!! Jimbo Fisher better pull one out of his hat!!
LSU / AU will depend on which offense can score more than 17 points!!

RE: Battery charging for full-timer?

Thank you for all of the replies, especially MELM!! You are correct, I leave the AC power on so the fridge will be cold when I get there. The TT is in south Alabama (very hot summers!). The fridge is a Dometic 2652. Something makes me think that I need 12VDC for the fridge but I'm not certain on that. I think I'll try to get one of the electricians at work to give me a crash course in reading a meter and try the voltage adjustment and then replace the battery.

RE: Battery charging for full-timer?

I finally had a chance to check my model number on the converter; it's a Magnetek 6345. I still haven't replaced the battery. The only thing I had planned to do was close the slide to exercise it a bit but the old battery didn't have the "umph" to do it.
Thanks,
Jim

XM Radio questions??

I'm thinking about getting XM radio. College football season is approaching and I'm tired of the local station's unreliable broadcasts!! For that reason, XM is the only way to go; Sirius doesn't carry SEC football anymore. I'm looking to carry one unit (ie. one subscription) between two vehicles and a boombox type set up. Now my questions!!
1) Will used equipment work? Ebay seems to be full of stuff. I don't think I care if it has a remote control, etc. It doesn't have to be the latest model; a good, reliable one will be fine. What is a good XM radio model? Skyfi, etc?
2) What will I need to take a unit from car to car? My truck has an AUX input but the wife's car does not.
3) Will the boombox still need an external antenna? How does that work inside a house or TT?
4) And the last crazy question: when listening to games, is there a delay between live action and the XM signal? Watching a football game on satellite TV and listening on the radio, there is a 2 second or so delay between the radio and the video on the screen! Drives me crazy because you hear what happens before you see it!
Thanks,
Jim

Battery charging for full-timer?

I'm not really a full-timer but I have my TT set up on a site where I leave it and use it on weekends, etc. It's hooked up to shore power all the time. I know this isn't good for the battery. It's time to replace the old battery, which needs water fairly often. I know I'm cooking the battery leaving it plugged in all the time. What should I do to make this new battery last? My TT is an "entry level" Keystone, so I doubt that the built-in charger is a real nice one!
Will a cut-off switch do the trick? I could leave it off when I'm gone and on when I'm there.
I've seen where others have added a "smart" charger. Would that be better? If so, how and where are those added? My battery is on the tongue of the TT.
Thanks for any help!

RE: Meaning of Acronym

I don't really see what's so offensive...She accidently replied and forwarded. Sounds like she is trying to get you an answer so you don't show up on a day when there are no tours. I'm sure people who have driven from "BFE" get upset when they are told "Sorry, no tours today. We're having a shutdown for maintenance!" Plus, I wouldn't want to give a tour on a hoilday either!!! BTW, I'm thinking BFE is the place in Egypt!!

RE: Truck bed covers

I saw an Amorlid at the Line-X dealer when I was getting my bed sprayed. Try www.amorlid.com It was a nice looking lid. They quoted $699 plus tax.

RE: Best way to get tongue weight, at home?

There's a way to do it with bathroom scales and a couple of lenghts of pipe. Do a search for that...I found it to be pretty accurate.

RE: Beer Question

It took 5 pages before Old 33 came out!
In order:
Rolling Rock
Coors Light
Keystone Light
Old Mildew Light (Old Milwaukee)
Quantity is in reverse order! For vacation I'll get a 12 pack of the Rolling Rock and the rest is the cheap stuff. When Coors is on sale, tht's what I go with...otherwise it's Keystone & Old Mildew!

RE: Record Profits

Walmart has little invested the inventory you see on the shelves. Most is on consignment from suppliers. When it sells, Walmart sends payment. If it doesn't sell, the supplier takes it back and eats it.

RE: tire size on tow vehical

Larger circumference means less towing power. Bump up to 4.56(?)gears! I bought my new truck with the smaller tires to get the highest tow rating.

RE: One Who's Gambling - Going to an F-150 From an F-250.

I went from an F250 V10 to a 5.4L F150 XLT (I had to pay, my boss ain't as nice as yours!) I would not have been happy with the F250 and a 5.4L. My 250 had an available payload of about 2500#; the F150 has about 1700#. I got the smaller tires to get the higher towing rating. My TT weighs about 7200# loaded with a tongue weight of 850# and I've yet to have a problem. 18" plus tires will reduce your towing capacity somewhat and I think that is what the King Ranch comes with.
Congrats & good luck!!
